god is humble - 2nd week friday 2018

Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted and they came to him.  It is God who calls, it is God who appoints. God is showing us that the calling, the vocation is God’s own initiative.   It is not through any merit of ours, it is not because of whatever qualifications we think we have, but only by virtue of divine grace.

I remember a priest who once asked the question, why did God choose you – referring to priests and religious, why did God choose you?  And he answered his own question saying, God chose you because God is humble.  If God was arrogant, God would have a lot of regrets in his choices.  If God was a proud and conceited God, God would have already repented a long time ago and may have even took back his call from us.  But God is humble and because of that he called us and we are still around.

Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted.   Like the apostles, each of us, and not just the priests and the nuns, are summoned to a particular call and purpose in life. This call and purpose is not just for our personal growth and for self-satisfaction but has a corresponding mission that would always reach out to others.  Have you already discovered you purpose and mission in life?
